Just want to point to the fact that the getting rich scheme of ASEAN countries in the 70's and 80's no longer applies, with so many countris participating in the global economy. When there are so many bottom fish scrapping for a living, not many of them will get their bellies full. How many of you are aware that the retail prices of textile products now in the US are lower than 10 years ago, even without taken into account the inflation? The best clients for the Chinese textile machinery industry these days are Indians and Pakistanis. We are cultivating our competitors! How can a country the size of China bring a good part of its population to mid-income level by selling cheap and cheaper? Let's face the reality. After another 50 years, the majority of Chinese will still be very poor. They life will be better, but you can't dream that the fantastic growth in the last two decades would continue indefinitely. Whatever policy the government will have won't make much difference.
