I was working on OPT in a US university as a postdoc in early 2002 and my salary was $25,000. When my department sponsored my H1b, University HR said that my salary was below the H1b prevailing wage and would not be approved. My boss increased my salary to $28,250 to meet the minimum wage requirement. My H1b was approved in Aug. 2002. In late 2003 my H1b was extended with the same wage. I have worked on H1b with that salary since then.
